DESCRIPTION:A Tribute to Tivoli’s Jazz History with Duke Ellington\, Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan \nTivoli’s Big Band and Sinne Eeg celebrate Tivoli’s rich jazz history and pay tribute to three of jazz’s greatest artists who performed regularly on Tivoli’s stages in the 1950s\, 60s and 70s. \nDuke Ellington and Ella Fitzgerald visited the Tivoli numerous times over those three decades\, and another of jazz’s greatest voices\, Sarah Vaughan\, recorded her personal masterpiece\, “Sassy Swings The Tivoli\,” in 1963\, with none other than Quincy Jones as producer. \nTivoli’s Big Band and Sinne Eeg delve into the rich repertoire from Ella Fitzgerald’s “Duke Ellington Songbook” album and recreate for the first time a handful of the titles from “Sassy Swings The Tivoli” in newly written big band arrangements. DESCRIPTION:Unity Jazz presents trumpeter Longineu Parsons and his Ensemble featuring pianist Nat Adderley Jr. with special guest vocalist Myrna Clayton. \nThe career of Longineu Parsons\, with its many musical pieces and parts\, serves as a metaphor for what he calls “the disorder of the human tribe.” The whole of Longineu Parsons is greater than the sum of his parts\, and he has made it his mission – and the mission of his own Tribal Disorder Records – to use music as “a force against disorder in the human tribe.” \nIn his own life and career\, this “disorder” has come in the form of widely diverse musical passions and pursuits.  Growing up in Jacksonville\, Florida\, Parsons instinctively plays the blues as a native language.  After cutting his teeth playing hometown gigs starting in junior high\, he toured on the Chitlin Circuit for a few years before attending Florida A&M University for his undergraduate degree.   \nThere\, two pivotal experiences would help set his course.  The first was that he heard the John Coltrane album “Expression” – it opened his ears and changed his life.  Though he was already into Miles Davis and “Bitches Brew\,” something was different about this.   Secondly\, he met the famous trumpeter (and FAMU alum) Nat Adderley.  Nat took Longineu under his wing and over time\, mentor and protégé became lifelong friends.  Longineu is honored to play Nat’s cornet as his main horn. \nTickets: $50.00 | CashApp: $UnityJazz / Zelle: 7708991991 \nFree Parking \n

DESCRIPTION:Ernest “EC3 Coleman III BIO Ernest\, a second generation musician\, was born in Naples\, Italy to Ernest and Rebecca Coleman. His father\, Ernest Jr.\, was a jazz musician who played tenor sax and was also a great arranger and composer. \nErnest studied at the Naval Conservatory of Music in Norfolk\, Virginia and was awarded a special honor for being the youngest student to graduate from this conservatory. After his tour with the Navy Band\, Ernest moved to Los Angeles\, California and began his true musical quest. He performed for Guys & Dolls\, Ain’t Misbehavin\, Bourbon Street Review\, and A Chorus Line. \nErnest got the call to work with Loretta Holloway in Las Vegas opening for Jay Leno\, Bill Cosby\, David Brenner\, Yakov Smirnoff\, Whoopi Goldberg\, Don Rickles and many many more. Ernest soon took over as Loretta’s musical director and continued on to travel to places like Russia\, Bermuda\, Japan\, Canada\, Virgin Islands\, and Brazil\, among many places around the world. DESCRIPTION:Jean Caze\, a Haitian American trumpeter from Queens\, N.Y.\, is one of today’s most captivating new musicians in jazz. He has performed with legends including Herbie Hancock\, Aretha Franklin\, Michael Bublé and Mariah Carey. Caze’s unique style blends his Haitian roots with his American jazz education\, offering audiences an unparalleled musical experience. \nStarting trumpet at age 9\, Caze quickly developed a passion that led to numerous scholarships and awards\, including at the National Trumpet Jazz Competition and the International Trumpet Guild Jazz Competition. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the Manhattan School of Music and a master’s from Florida International University (FIU). \nCaze has toured globally with Bublé and released two self-produced albums\, Miami Jazz Scene and Amédé. He is also a dedicated educator\, teaching at institutions including the Litchfield Jazz Camp and FIU. DESCRIPTION:A protégé of Dizzy Gillespie\, Arturo Sandoval is one of the most dynamic performers of our time\, and has been seen by millions at the Oscars\, the Grammy Awards and the Billboard Music Awards. Sandoval has been awarded 10 Grammy Awards\, and been nominated 19 times. He has received six Billboard Music Awards and an Emmy Award\, the latter for his composing work on the score of the HBO movie based on his life\, For Love or Country\, which starred Andy Garcia. In 2013\, Sandoval was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom. \nSandoval was a founding member of the Grammy Award-winning group Irakere\, whose explosive mixture of jazz\, classical\, rock and traditional Cuban music caused a sensation throughout the world. SUMMARY:ARI HOENIG TRIO
DESCRIPTION:Exposed at an early age to a variety of musical experiences. His father is a conductor and classical singer\, his mother a violinist and pianist. Accordingly\, at 4 years of age\, Ari began studying the violin and piano. At age 12 he started in on the drums and by age fourteen he was honing his skills with other young jazz musicians at Philly clubs such as Ortlieb’s JazzHaus. \nHoenig has taught and is on the faculty at New York University and The New School in New York. He gives clinics and lectures at music schools and universities worldwide. \nAri Hoenig with his trio featuring Tivon Pennicott on sax and Gadi Lehavi on Piano and Tivon Pennicott on sax.
