JazzTimes reports\, “Pelt is a technical marvel. He executes intricate solos with ease\, plays gorgeous ballads in a tasteful manner\, and never lacks flair or sensitivity.” Audiophile Audition adds he has “the power and range of Lee Morgan and Freddie Hubbard in their seminal years.” \nThe group is co-led by the perpetually swinging Eric Reed\, who All About Jazz says “has fully established himself in the forefront of jazz pianists\,” and the fiery Herring who “has firmly established himself as one of his generation’s masters\,” adds The New York City Jazz Record. It also includes one of the elite musicians working today\, drummer Joe Farnsworth. \n7PM Show Details: Your $250 ticket (plus tax & tip) includes a 3-course holiday dinner \n9:30PM Show Details: Your $350 ticket (plus tax & tip) includes a 3-course holiday dinner\, two shows\, a midnight celebration\, hats & noise makers

SUMMARY:HERLIN RILEY QUARTET
DESCRIPTION:New Orleans is a drummer’s town. But in this town full of first class drummers\, Herlin Riley is “the” drummer. The Baron of the Boom Boom. The Pulse that keeps the life flowing through any body of work. \nBorn into a musical family steeped in gospel\, blues\, and jazz\, Herlin was asked by Wynton Marsalis to join him in New York City in 1988 where Herlin stayed for almost two decades\, all the while maintaining a home in New Orleans. He is still a regularly featured musician with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra\, but has been based back in his hometown for several years now — that is\, when he wasn’t on tour with Ahmad Jamal\, Dr. John\, or Harry Connick Jr. He lights up any stage with just his presence alone\, and always fires up the first class musicians who love to play with him. \nQuartet\nHerlin Riley – drums\, percussion\, vocals\nRoland Guerin – bass\nKyle Roussel – piano\nDerek Douget – saxophones

SUMMARY:DELFEAYO MARSALIS & THE UPTOWN JAZZ ORCHESTRA
DESCRIPTION:Delfeayo Marsalis is one of the top trombonists\, composers\, and producers in jazz today. Known for his “technical excellence\, inventive mind and frequent touches of humor…” (Los Angeles Times)\, he is “…one of the best\, most imaginative and musical of the trombonists of his generation.” (San Francisco Examiner).\n\nEarly influences on Delfeayo’s style include J.J. Johnson\, Curtis Fuller\, Al Grey\, Tyree Glenn\, Tommy Dorsey\, and Duke Ellington’s trombone masters. From the age of 17 until the present\, he has produced over 100 recordings for major artists\, including Harry Connick Jr\, Spike Lee\, Terence Blanchard\, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band\, and his father and brothers.\n\nIn January 2011\, Delfeayo and the Marsalis family (father Ellis and brothers Branford\, Wynton\, and Jason) earned the nation’s highest jazz honor – a National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Masters Award\, thus dubbing them “America’s First Family of Jazz.”\n\n\nOn packing a full jazz orchestra into a tiny historic jazz club: “Whatever you have to do\,” the trombonist says philosophically. But when the band plays the swing and bebop hits from the 1930s through the 1960s\, the music is just as tight. From Mardi Gras music to modern jazz\, this band does it all.  An intimate experience like no other! \n\nThe Uptown Jazz Orchestra:\nDelfeayo Marsalis – trombone\nTrombones:  TJ Norris\, Ethan Santos\nTrumpets:  Andrew Baham\, John Gray\, Ashlin Parker\, Scott Frock\nSaxophones:  Roderick Paulin\, Scott Johnson\, Khari Allen Lee\, Travarri Huff-Boone\, Shaena Ryan\nClarinet: Gregory Agid\nPiano: Kyle Roussel\nBass: Barry Stephenson\nDrums: Brian Richbury Jr\n+ special guest\,  Tonya Boyd-Cannon – vocals

SUMMARY:PHILLIP MANUEL
DESCRIPTION:Influenced greatly by Ella Fitzgerald\, Phillip Manuel is a gifted jazz vocalist with a poised\, polished and gracefully lithe voice. Manuel’s rich baritone has been heard in many contexts over the last thirty years\, from jingles and commercials to global tours with Terence Blanchard and Bill Summers. \nFrom New York to Los Angeles\, from Portugal to Paris\, Manuel has graced the world’s stages with some of the biggest stars in jazz. Encouraged by Aaron Neville to take the leap for his first live performance as a youth\, his voice has been described as dramatic\, warm and full of soul. Some say his voice charms and seduces\, and his range sounds effortless. His most recent album\, 2019’s “PM\,” finds him at his soulful R&B best\, performing 12 original compositions—a marked departure from his other jazz recordings. While his musical abilities are obvious\, Phillip is also an accomplished actor\, writer and sought-after voiceover talent\, including roles in classic New Orleans films such as Cane River and The Big Uneasy. \n\nTonight\, Phillip presents his annual special Christmas Concert and his Birthday Celebration\, performing music from his endearing Christmas CD collection\, “Swingin’ in the Holidays.” \n\nThe Phillip Manuel Quintet\nPhillip Manuel – vocals\nMichael Pellera – piano\nSteve Masakowski – guitar\nAmina Scott – bass\nWayne Maureau – drums

SUMMARY:WESSELL "WARMDADDY" ANDERSON
DESCRIPTION:Alto saxophonistWessell “Warmdaddy” Anderson grew up in the tough Bedford Stuyvesent and Crown Heights neighborhoods of Brooklyn\, NY. By the time Anderson was 14 years old\, he was deeply involved in the local jazz scene (thanks in part to his father\, a drummer) and attending jam sessions at then-active Brooklyn and Queens jazz clubs like the Blue Coronet\, Pumpkin’s\, and the Turbo Village. \nAnderson later studied at Harlem’s famed Jazzmobile workshops with the likes of Frank Wess\, Charles Davis\, and Frank Foster. Here\, Anderson also met Wynton and Branford Marsalis\, who were both playing with Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers at the time. At Branford’s urging\, Anderson soon departed New York to study with famed clarinetist Alvin Batiste at Southern University in Baton Rouge\, LA. \nIt wasn’t long before Anderson got his first big break\, when Wynton Marsalis asked Anderson to tour with the Wynton Marsalis Septet. Soon\, Anderson was off to the studio and the road with Marsalis\, helping make some of the most defining music of the late-’80s and early-’90s jazz revival. Although Marsalis disbanded the group in 1995\, Anderson is still the first string alto saxist with Marsalis’ Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra. \nIt was during his time with Marsalis’ group that Anderson began to develop his own sound: a mix of traditional New Orleans jazz  and a sweeping blues style similar to that of Cannonball Adderley\, and Wynton thus dubbed him “Warmdaddy” soul. \nThe Quintet\nWess “Warmdaddy” Anderson – saxophone\nEd Perkins – vocals\nVictor Atkins – piano\nRobin Sherman – bass\nJason Marsalis – drums
