SUMMARY:TOM HARRELL QUINTET
DESCRIPTION:The trumpeter Tom Harrell has been doing this a long time\, through various schools and vogues: He can play slow and fast and in between\, sometimes all within a single line. But his improvising is always temperate and proportionate. He keeps you on the hook\, but doesn’t shout\, doesn’t stop the clock. Plenty of improvisers are specialists in now-ness\, revealing a solo as a series of events\, or present-tense flashes. With Mr. Harrell\, it’s all one event. He’s always processing ahead and behind\, and you feel as if you’re hearing the whole of the narrative at all times\, from was to is to will be. \nTom Harrell – Trumpet\, Flugelhorn\nDayna Stephens – Saxophone\nLuis Perdomo – Piano\nUgonna Okegwo – Bass\nAdam Cruz – Drums

SUMMARY:THE COOKERS
DESCRIPTION:Each member of the Cookers has spent time leading his own series of groups\, and each has a keenly individual sound. But it’s the unmistakable power of teamwork that makes this music so commanding and resonates with a kind of depth and beauty that speaks of the seasoned track record of its principals (combined\, the group has over 250 years of experience in the jazz world and has been a part of over 1\,000 recordings). You can feel the collective weight of that experience in their CDs and especially in their live performances. \nDavid Weiss\, trumpet\nEddie Henderson\, trumpet\nDonald Harrison\, alto sax\nBilly Harper\, tenor sax\nGeorge Cables\, piano\nCecil McBee\, bass\nBilly Hart\, drums \nShowtimes: \nStreaming: Fri\, Sat\, November 18~19\, 7:30 pm | Sun\, November 20\, 5:00 pm\n$10 + $1.70 fee \nLive: Fri\, Sat\, November 18~19\, 7:30 & 10:00 pm | Sun\, November 20\, 5:00 pm\n$35 – $45 + $3.46 – $4.16 fee

SUMMARY:MARIA SCHNEIDER ORCHESTRA
DESCRIPTION:NEA Jazz Master Maria Schneider returns to NJPAC with her genre-defying orchestra. Widely acclaimed for her sophisticated large-ensemble recordings\, Schneider is a gifted arranger and composer whose highly original work often blurs the lines between post-bop\, classical and the avant-garde. Her GRAMMY® winning albums include 2005’s Concert in the Garden\, 2008’s Sky Blue\, and 2015’s The Thompson Fields. Schneider’s dedicated passion for artist’s rights informed her GRAMMY® winning album Data Lords\, which was also a finalist for the 2021 Pulitzer Prize.
