SUMMARY:DALINE JONES & DIEGO RIVERA
DESCRIPTION:Daline began singing as a child and her singing and songwriting chops are the legacy of her famous Beat-poet father and jazz surrealist\, Ted Joans. He  made sure Daline spent her early years listening to\, and seeing\, the Jazz greats in the clubs of their native New York City. That  exposure lead her to pursue a life in music. Her earliest recording sessions were for Lionel Richie and the Commodores\, working with the top studio session vocalists in the business. She released several of her own critically acclaimed albums; achieving Billboard’s “Top 20” on the Contemporary Jazz charts. \nShe headlined the famous Starlight Room in San Francisco\, Daline was the lead singer for the renowned Starlight Orchestra from 1995-2005\, and has since performed around the world with pianist/composer Diego Ramirez.  They have written and recorded many original songs and recorded several albums and CDs.  They are currently at work on a new album of original songs for release in early 2024 and will perform in Copenhagen in Summer 2024.

The group has been performing together for 20 years locally and abroad in such places as China\, Taiwan\, Malaysia\, Italy\, among others.  Their repertoire is a sophisticated blend of soulful jazz originals and arrangements of Mala’s favorite composers. Their style is flavored with the influences of many genres including Latin/Jazz\, Calypso\, Gospel\, R&B and Pop.  The band features:  Steve Salerno on guitar\, Michael T.A. Thompson on drums\, and Marcus Mclaurine on bass.

DESCRIPTION:Few bands can boast a history as fortuitous and storied asThe Headhunters. What each member brings to the table forged a history that most bands can only dream of. Their blend of jazz with funk and rock would go on to sell over a million albums worldwide\, while the band’s legacy would inspire musicians of every genre for years to come\, be sampled by hundreds of hip-hop artists throughout the ’80s and ’90s\, and influence countless musicians’ playing today. The Headhunters’ impact remains a global phenomenon\, and their time with Hancock proved to be a life changing experience. The band has released 8 more albums stepping out on their own sans Hancock’s involvement starting with Survival of the Fittest in 1975 and on Straight from the Gate in 1977 and most recently Speakers In the House in 2022 and Live From Brooklyn Bowl in 2023.\n\nThe current band consists of a top notch quintet with Clark\, Summers and Harrison joined by bassist Chris Severin (Dr. John\, Diana Krall\, The Neville Brothers) and pianist Kyle Roussel (Preservation Hall Jazz Band)\, both staples on the New Orleans music scene. His 2017 Impulse trio recording Uptown\, Downtown won the Grammy for Best Jazz Instrumental Album\, and his newest Blue Note release\, Street of Dreams\, was released in 2021. \nA restless explorer who has collaborated with master musicians of Mali\, interpreted the cabaret of Kurt Weill\, and embraced the hard bop of Horace Silver\, 2017 NEA Jazz Master Dee Dee Bridgewater is a Grammy and Tony-winning music legend who has had a sublime partnership with Charlap\, performing in duo during the 2022-23 Season and in concerts around the world. \nA founding member of the SFJAZZ Collective\, trumpeter\, multi-instrumentalist and two-time Grammy winner Nicholas Payton has led a remarkable career as a bandleader\, composer\, collaborator\, and writer.
