SUMMARY:ARTEMIS
DESCRIPTION:ARTEMIS is a powerful ensemble of modern jazz masters\, founded in 2017 by pianist and musical director Renee Rosnes. In Real Time––the band’s second release on Blue Note Records––has been garnering universal acclaim. NPR wrote that “it further establishes their prowess both as individuals and as a collective…a femme fatale supergroup\,” and from the Times of London\, “robust voicings\, free-jazz diversions and searching modal patterns all feature in the intricate style of ARTEMIS…so distinctive is each voice and so striking is their sense of unity.” DownBeat hailed the music as “deep swinging” and a “stellar follow up” to the band’s debut album in 2020. Each musician is a bandleader and composer and every performance encompasses inspired arrangements of classics and originals. \nRenee Rosnes ~ piano & keyboard\nIngrid Jensen ~ trumpet\nNicole Glover ~ tenor saxophone\nNoriko Ueda ~ bass\nAllison Miller ~ drums \nTickets: $35.00 ~ $45.00 + fee | Streaming:  $15.00 + fee

SUMMARY:50 SHADES OF O: ORRIN EVANS
DESCRIPTION:50 SHADES OF O: Orrin Evans’ 50th Birthday Celebration with the Orrin Evans Trio and special guest vocalist Ms. Lisa Fischer! Orrin Evans and his 2x Grammy-nominated Captain Black Big Band released and will be performing music from their new studio album\, Walk A Mile In My Shoe! \nFor more than two decades\, Yamaha pianist Orrin Evans has made an art form of the unexpected. With more than 25 albums to his credit without ever relying on the support of a major label\, Evans has become the model of a fiercely independent artist who’s made a habit of rattling the jazz world’s confining cages. That determination has paid off in accolades like topping the “Rising Star Pianist” category in the 2018 DownBeat Critics Poll and two Grammy nominations. As an adventurous composer he traverses stylistic boundaries with abandon\, drawing on full-throttle swing\, deep rooted blues\, expressive soul or bracing excursions into the avant-garde. \nAfter four decades of featured background singing with icons like Luther Vandross\, The Rolling Stones\, Chaka Khan\, Tina Turner\, and Nine Inch Nails\, Ms. Lisa Fischer set out to take center stage with her own humble\, heartfelt song. The 2013 Best Documentary Oscar winning film “Twenty Feet from Stardom” altered the course of Lisa’s musical journey\, telling her story\, with clips of her legendary duets with Sting or with Mick Jagger on “Gimme Shelter”\, left audiences eager to see and hear more. \nThe Lineup: \nMs. Lisa Fischer ~ vocals\nOrrin Evans ~ piano\nRobert Hurst ~ bass\nJeff “Tain” Watts ~ drums \nTickets: $45.00 ~ $55.00 + fee | Streaming: 6:00pm Only ~ $15.00 + fee

SUMMARY:BRUNO HUBERT
DESCRIPTION:Bruno Hubert is one of Canada’s most lyrical and expressive jazz pianists\, with a deep sense of swing\, lush harmonies\, and beguiling melodic lines. His conception\, while highly original and utterly genuine\, is evocative of\, at once\, Erroll Garner\, Keith Jarrett\, Herbie Hancock\, Bill Evans and other luminaries of jazz. While he is careful to stress that he is not a composer\, he nevertheless presents a cornucopia of medley-like arrangements of jazz standards\, soul\, rock and pop influenced pieces\, often in a lively night club environment. \nMr. Hubert has been quietly underpinning the Vancouver jazz scene for over twenty years now and while he has a number of recordings under his own name\, he is also a key associate of other top jazz musicians such as Juno Award winner Brad Turner (Trumpet)\, Juno nominated vocalists Jaclyn Guillou and Denzal Sinclaire\, Seamus Blake and others. Earlier in his career he collaborated with such musical luminaries as Gino Vannelli\, and Nora Jones. \nThe Trio: Bruno Hubert – piano\, James Megar – bass\, Joe Poole – drums \nTickets: $5.00 ~ $10.00

SUMMARY:ANTHONY WONSEY TRIO
DESCRIPTION:Chicago native Anthony Wonsey is one of the most innovative jazz pianists on the planet. His dynamic compositions and imaginative arrangements make him a much in demand player internationally. Anthony’s introduction to music began at a young age via the influence of his mother Darlene\, a classically trained pianist\, lessons from trumpeter Zilner Randolph\,( musical director for Louis Armstrong’s band) and many moments in his family’s basement with his father Anthony\, a Chicago postal worker/jazz fan who schooled his son\, via a staticky AM radio\, on the music he loved. \nHis progression flourished\, resulting in a full scholarship to the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston. While a student\, he played locally with Roy Hargrove and Antonio Hart; toured with Kenny Garrett and Nneena Freelon\, followed by a staggering move when recruited by the legendary drummer Elvin Jones to join his group. Wonsey relocated from Boston to NYC and played with Jones’ Jazz Machine for five years. Mulgrew Miller and James Williams also became mentors. \nSingers and instrumentalists welcome to the jam session \nThe House Band: Anthony Wonsey~Piano\, Will Lyle~Bass\, Diego Voglino~Drums \nNo Cover | One drink minimum. | Complimentary vegan food and brownies

SUMMARY:JOEY CALDERAZZO TRIO
DESCRIPTION:One of the most distinguished pianists of his generation\, Joey Calderazzo has released 13 albums as a bandleader and has risen from child prodigy to elite jazz musician. A member of Branford Marsalis’ band and leader of his own trio\, Calderazzo has collaborated with legends such as Michael Brecker\, Jack DeJohnette and Dave Holland\, exploring jazz through composition\, improvisation and performance. \nHis trio\, featuring bassist Orlando Le Fleming and drummer Donald Edwards\, exemplifies his commitment to improvisation and swing\, captured perfectly on Live From The Cotton Club Tokyo\, Volume I . Early collaborations with Michael Brecker and groundbreaking solo recordings for Blue Note Records were key moments in Calderazzo’s career\, leading him to a more lyrical\, rhythmically diverse\, and subtle approach to piano playing. \nOriginally trained as a classical pianist\, Calderazzo studied jazz greats such as Art Tatum\, Herbie Hancock and Chick Corea\, drawing inspiration from their work to create his own unique style. Albums such as Haiku and Amanecer  showcase his solo piano explorations\, fusing tradition with his personal voice. \nLine-up:\nJoey Calderazzo – piano\nOrlando Le Fleming – bass\nDavid Hawksing – drums \nAdmission: Unknown
