The Jazz Voyager
The Jazz Voyager is heading to Switzerland once again to Engestrasse 54 3012 Bern where Marians Jazzroom is located in the basement of the Innere Enge Hotel. One of the best jazz clubs in the world, it was founded in 1992, and became known for its phenomenal acoustics and accommodation of 130 seats. This intimate setting was designed purposely to be one of the premier listening rooms in the city, if not the world.
The hotel itself is dedicated to jazz with memorabilia everywhere. Jazz plays 24 hours over their house system and in every part of the hotel there are framed pictures and plaques of the greatest jazz players, legends and current trailblazers adorning the walls in the hallways and rooms. There are books, compact discs, magazines, classic albums and sculptures throughout the hotel.
From September to May, two concerts per evening are held from Tuesday to Saturday. This week the club features Frank Vignola and the John Di Martino Trio along with offering a full range of beverages and a petite dining menu of sandwiches and tapas. Cover charge ranges from $15.00 to $30.00 depending on day and set and reservations are recommended and can be made at 41 31 309 61 11

The Jazz Voyager
With Spain passionate about all music, it is no surprise that jazz is just as prolific as their native guitar and castanets. Thus the next destination for the Jazz Voyager is Madrid and a jazz club called Cafe Central. Presenting jazz and blues since 1982, the club resides in a 19th-century building that previously housed a beautiful shop. The club’s high ceiling and elegant Iberian decor is located at Plaza del Angel 10, putting the venue at the heart of the city, amid pedestrianized streets, bars, restaurants and shops.
The musical focus is mainstream and gypsy jazz, and this visit will reveal the talents of the Kike Perdomo Quartet. Open from 11:30am to 2:30am cover charge for shows range about €13, with beer and burger €4 – €10.20. Reservations are advisable from Thursday-Saturday, at +34 91 369 4143 for an enjoyable evening. #wannabewhereyouare #jazz #voyager #travel #club #adventure

The Jazz Voyager
The rather staid streets of Cologne Germany’s Ehrenfeld district is the next destination for the Jazz Voyager to check out the happenings at The Loft. Celebrating 29 years this club has become trendier over the years and is flourishing, with an adventurous program of local and international players.
Opened by owner Hans Martin-Müller, a classical flautist with a long history of orchestral playing, it was his love of jazz and the camaraderie of musicians that courses through this intimate space at the top of a nondescript residential block.
Located at Wissmannstr 30, this lounge-in-an-attic is a place where audience and musicians readily mix and might even buy each other drinks. The jazz is modern, often purely improvisational, attracting a young, open-minded crowd.
Admission is €9 for adults and for students €6 and more information can be found by calling +49 221 952 1555. #wannabewhereyouare #jazz #voyager #travel #club #adventure

The Jazz Voyager
The Jazz Voyager is off to France, where the gypsy jazz of Django Reinhardt was popular in the 1930s, to Sunset/Sunside at 60 Rue des Lombards, 75001 Paris. This visit to the City of Lights will partake of the music of the guitar Gilad Hekselman Trio featuring Kendrick Scott and Nitai Hershkovits.
This family-owned club, created in 1983 by Michele and Jean-Marc Portet, has two rooms, each with a very different feel: Sunside looks like a 1950s New York jazz club while Sunset’s styling is reminiscent of the Paris metro.
Showtimes are 7:30 pm and 9:30 pm, admission is €30.00 and reservations are highly recommended at +33 (0) 1 40 26 46 60. #wannabewhereyouare #jazz #voyager #travel #club #adventure

The Jazz Voyager
Across the Atlantic once more is where the Jazz Voyager is heading to a jazz club that once hosted an impromptu saxophone performance by former President Bill Clinton. The oldest jazz club in the Czech Republic is located in Prague and is the Reduta Jazz Club. Situated on Národní třída 20 just off Wenceslas Squarein the centre of the city, it is close to the National Theatre and was established in 1957 at a time when Czechoslovakia wasn’t exactly enjoying the warm creative breeze of a liberal renaissance by the bassist Jan Arnet, who gave its name from a term for centers of fun and music,
Focusing on fusing jazz with modern progressive styles, throughout the year they also present swing, Dixieland, mainstream, modern jazz, big band compositions, blues, bossa nova and jazz pop. This weekend the Jazz Voyager will be entertained by Doris Lamos and her quartet paying tribute to Billie Holiday. Perfect acoustics makes this one of the best listening spaces and on the list in the top 10 European jazz spots.
Committed to jazz every night of the week kicking off at around 9.30pm has ensured that tourists and locals alike have stoked up a buzzing atmosphere. Intimate in its atmosphere with seating for 100 with a genuine jazz club vibe has a bar serving pilsner straight from a “saxophone” pump.
General admission from €10.50 with student discounts and it is recommended to purchase tickets in advance to secure entry. More information is available at +420 224 933 487. #wannabewhereyouare #jazz #voyager #travel #club #adventure
