Jazz In Film
BOOM! Tennessee Williams penned the play and this 1968 screenplay adaptation of his play was directed by Joseph Losey and starred Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton and Noel Coward.
The film explores the confrontation between the wealthiest woman in the world who has everything including emptiness, and a penniless poet who has nothing but the ability to fill a wealthy woman’s needs.
Music for the song Hideaway composed by clarinetist and saxophonist John Dankworth. The soundtrack was composed by John Barry.

Dynamic: This 1958 classic boasts the talents of the legendary Pittsburgh jazz and soul vocalist Dakota Staton. Tasteful and swinging, with an alternation between lush orchestra arrangements and intimate combo settings, the album coheres beautifully and represents Staton in fine form. This is her sophomore project on the heels of her critically acclaimed “The Late, Late Show” with an addition four previously unreleased tracks added to the re-mastered compact disc. Forest Flower & Soundtrack: This 1967 release was recorded when Charles Lloyd brought his band to Monterey for an unprecedented performance. A set of far-reaching, sophisticated progressive jazz that was rich and accessible was what a floored audience heard that day. The hippie and college-aged audience were witness to superb interplay, melodic gifts that skirted the edges of what was going on at the time, pushed the boundaries and the talents of this young band. This is decidedly one requisite for the budding initiate of jazz.
