Acclaimed vocalist Nicole Henry returns to Birdland with What We Desire deeply felt and joy-filled evening of music celebrating one of humanity’s most enduring desires—to be loved. With her signature blend of classic jazz sophistication and soulful warmth, Henry brings new resonance to beloved standards including “All the Way,” alongside inspired interpretations such as the 1970s hit “So Good, So Right.” The award-winning artist has four Top 10 international album titles.

Currently celebrating a 20-year recording career that includes eight critically acclaimed albums, Nicole Henry is a Soul Train Award winner, a four-time Top 10 Billboard jazz artist, and was named “Vocalist of the Decade” by BroadwayWorld Miami. Her impact extends beyond the stage, earning multiple proclamations of “Nicole Henry Day” in Miami for her artistic achievements and community contributions.

BRAXTON COOK

Maryland’s own Braxton Cook is an Emmy Award-winning, two time Grammy Award winning, NAACP Image Award-nominated artist, known for his world-class skills as an alto saxophonist, vocalist, songwriter, producer and composer. With a blend of jazz, soul, and alt-R&B, he has carved out a unique, melodic sound that has made him one of the most exciting voices of his generation. A Juilliard-trained, genre-jumping artist whose music feels both contemporary and timeless, Braxton studied saxophone under the renowned Paul Carr. During this time, Braxton was selected as a semi-finalist in the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Saxophone Competition.

He has performed on major stages around the world, from Coachella to international jazz festivals, and collaborated with artists like Rihanna, Solange, Christian McBride Big Band, Tom Misch, Christian Scott, Marquis Hill, and Jon Batiste, performing on his soundtrack for Pixar’s Oscar-winning film, Soul. His albums garner critical acclaim from outlets like Billboard, BET, NPR Music, FORBES, and The Washington Post, cementing Braxton as both a “jazz marvel” and a cultural influencer shaping modern music. His newest album, Not Everyone Can Go, drops August 29th. Musically, the album conjures images of bright evening sunshine, when the temperature begins to cool.

TOMI BERRY & OMAR ASKEW

Tomi Berry is a beautiful performer, inside and out, brings natural grace, a rich soulful voice, and spiritual essence to her performances throughout the Atlanta area and beyond. Wherever she sings, she spreads joy, whether singing smooth R&B, swinging jazz, or sultry ballads, she holds an audience in rapt attention.  A spiritual song-stylist, she engages her listeners in musical conversation.

Omar Askew, a 19-year-old student at Kennesaw State University, is dedicated to studying Jazz Performance on the piano. Constantly striving for self-improvement, he aims to excel every time he touches his instrument. In lessons, Omar pushes his students to become the best pianists they can be, helping them achieve their personal goals.
