The Jazz Voyager
The Jazz Voyager returned home to the Big Apple and caught the last performance of Kenny Barron at the Village Vanguard on Sunday and is hanging out to bring in the new year with hope that the world will turn around and be kinder. If you can’t be in some exotic destination like Bahia, Tahiti or San Blas there’s no better place to be than New York City.
I’ll be at the Blue Note for the last set of the evening by Chris Botti. Owner and founder Danny Bensusan had a vision to create a jazz club in Greenwich Village that would treat deserving artists with respect, while allowing patrons to see the world’s finest jazz musicians in a close, comfortable setting. He accomplished his goal. Since 1981, Blue Note has been a cultural institution in New York City and one of the premiere jazz clubs in the world.
As we look towards the future, I implore you to be responsible for yourself and others, promote gentleness with this world and practice random acts of kindness whenever the opportunity presents itself. Have a prosperous and Happy New Year!
The club’s number is 212-475-8592. If you want to get more information visit notoriousjazz.com/event/chris-botti.

The Jazz Voyager
The Jazz Voyager is outbound from the East coast for some holiday festivities on the West coast. I’m landing in Portland, Oregon and ubering to the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall located at 1037 SW Broadway, 97205. Bringing in the season is a favorite vocalist of mine who goes by the name of Harry Connick Jr. An intimate evening of holiday songs and stories by this Grammy and Emmy winner musician is something to anticipate.
As one of the last surviving theater venues on Broadway, which was once lined with large theater houses, the 2776 seat Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall keeps the tradition of hosting prolific performances alive.
The concert hall’s number is 503-248-4335. If you want to get more information visit https://notoriousjazz.com/event/harry-connick-jr-2.

The Jazz Voyager
The Jazz Voyager is taking his next flight out to the great northwest to Idaho to pay a visit to a performing arts center called The Argyros. That is where the jazz vocalist Curtis Stigers will be performing for one night only. Besides his vocal talents he is also a songwriter, and plays the saxophone and guitar.
An intimate evening of songs and stories by this Emmy-nominated musician is something to anticipate. He has redefined the constitution of contemporary jazz singing, bringing new tunes to the Great American Songbook.
This is another first time discovery of the city and venue but I am excited to see what part of the country has to offer. Will definitely be dressed properly for the cold weather and hope any storms hold off. As always each flight I take has me masked as a preventative measure as these strains are continuing to mutate.
The center is located at 120 Main Street South, Ketchum 83340. The center’s number is 208-726-7872. For more information visit https://notoriousjazz.com/event/curtis-stigers.

The Jazz Voyager
Back in the States from a whirlwind roundtrip across the pond to France and back on the east coast, heading south and bundled up and landed in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Jazz Voyager is on his way to Middle C Jazz tonight to be in the audience to check out a young, talented pianist and provocateur by the name of Connie Han. She is a member of this new wave of jazz artists who are bringing an edgy brand of modern and traditional energy to jazz.
I am excited to hear what she has to say musically on this one night opportunity. It all happens tomorrow but as usual when I have friends in town I always fly in early to hang out with them. This Jazz Voyager doesn’t waste a trip and not break bread.
Located at 300 S Brevard Street 28202. As always for more information visit notoriousjazz.com/event.

The Jazz Voyager
This week I’m crossing the pond for the first time this year to La Ciotat, France to see my friend Delphine Nérot. She will perform at Chapelle des Minimes as a member of the Deene Trio, made up of accordion, bass and voice. The chapel is located in the southern part of the country on the Mediteranean Sea at Place Guibert, 13600.
The Protestant chapel is small, only 32 meters long and 6 meters wide. During the Revolution it was the headquarters of the Club des Antipolitiques, a popular 1791 society recognized as a subsidiary by the center of rue Thubaneau in Marseille. Adjoining the chapel is a synagogue on the left, open onto the car park Square Verdun, and on the right, a dance academy. The chapel boasts a beautifully crafted 300-year-old door. I know the acoustics will be fantastic.
This is my first time visiting this city and venue and I am so looking forward to this voyage. Although restrictions have been lifted, I am wary about the indoor air quality on planes and indoors with low ventilation, so this Jazz Voyager will still mask and social distance whenever possible. As always, for more information visit notoriousjazz.com/event or 06 09 49 03 24 | www.facebook.com/laciotatculture.
