Requisites
Don’t Look Back, recorded in November of 1974, is a session by tenor saxophonist Harold Vick for the Strata-East label. Creative Hands, Inc. designed the two-tone cover, reminiscent of early Blue Note covers, with photography by Jim Dun. It was recorded at Minot Sound Studios, White Plains, New York and produced by Vick. Track List | 35:48 All compositions by Harold Vick.

Requisites
On August 29, 1971, percussionist James Mtume recorded this live free jazz session at The East in Brooklyn, New York titled Alkebu-Lan – Land Of The Blacks for the Strata-East record label. The artwork and cover design was by an unknown artist Clarence Eastman known as Wabembe. The back cover photography was taken by Je Jordan, the liner photography is by Ray Gibson and the engineer was Endesha O’Brien. This double album was released in 1972. The East, located in the Clinton Hill neighborhood, was notable for refusing to allow White people to pass its doors.

Rough ‘n’ Tumble is an album by saxophonist Stanley Turrentine recorded on July 1, 1966 at Van Gelder Studios in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey and released in October on the Blue Note label. The session featured the arrangements by Duke Pearson, the engineer was Rudy Van Gelder and with Alfred Lion, producer.

The year was 1967 when a young lady from Philadelphia recorded the first of two sessions for the album Girl Talk. Her name was Shirley Scott. On January 12th & 13th the organist went into the studio and recorded nine tracks that were released on the Impulse! label.
The cover design was by Robert and Barbara Flynn with photography by Charles “Chuck” Stewart. The sessions were produced by Bob Thiele.

Requisites
In 1975 bassist Larry Ridley went into the Generation Sound Studios and recorded the album Sum Of The Parts between June 9th – June 30th for the Strata-East record label. The little-known Art Krasinky photographed an design the cover for bassist Larry Ridley, with typography by Bexar. The sessions were produced by Elliot Meadow. Tony May was the engineer for the date and the remix.Liner notes were written and arrangements were done by Ridley.
This former sideman for such luminaries as Thelonious Monk, Lee Morgan and Duke Ellington balanced a jazz career with lifelong academic achievement. He gained a doctorate and served as chairman of the Jazz Panel of the National Endowment for the Arts and as Professor of Jazz Bass.
Venturing a little further into the realms of fusion and smooth jazz than most Strata-East titles, Ridley’s level of musicianship remains high throughout, thanks to a strong lineup.
