The Jazz Voyager

It’s the Gateway to the South where this Jazz Voyager is heading in anticipation of a great jazz weekend at the Atlanta Jazz Festival in Piedmont park. The festival turns 40 this year and there’s no other place to be than in the park celebrating this anniversary. For those veterans who’ve been there, you know No charcoal, only gas grills and no dogs allowed on the festival grounds.

For the initiates, be for-warned as the vets know you have to get in early to get your ideal spot for lawn chairs and blankets, tents, food and grills. There’s going to be thousands of folks gathering once again to celebrate this banner year of the festival. Bring plenty of water to keep hydrated and watch your children. Don’t want any lost boys and girls. Other than that, check out the lineup below, print a copy and see you there. Enjoy yourself!!! #jazzvoyager#wannabewhereyouare

The Jazz Voyager

The Jazz Voyager is heading to the eastern Mediterranean for some jazz on the island of Cypress. Nestled on the southern coast of the island is the city of Limassol, where my travels end listening to jazz at a wine bar called Vinylio.

Hosting regular jazz nights within its warm, atmospheric interior one can retreat from the chilly evenings. With candlelight flickering across the walls I look forward to enjoying the music of popular local bands such as Mood Indigo or Ioanna Troullidou & George Morfitis.

Vinylio is open 7:00pm until 1:00am and is located in the old town of Limassol at 33 Agkiris St, Limassol. For more information on who’s playing live jazz every Friday and Saturday night, the number is (+357) 96-810119. #jazzvoyager#wannabewhereyouare

The Jazz Voyager

With reservations made at 313-882-5299, this Jazz Voyager is all set to head out to Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan for some dinner and jazz Tuesday night with the Charles Boles Quartet at the The Dirty Dog Jazz Café located at 97 Kercheval Avenue, 48236, just thirteen miles from Detroit.

Seating just 65 diners and jazz enthusiasts each night, one is afforded the opportunity to enjoy legends, icons, and greenhorns of the jazz world.  The café is modeled after an English pub, so there are lots of dark wood leather seats and lots of deep reds.  The cuisine is upscale and eclectic and the music is live in this intimate space. Be warned music is played through dinner from 6:00pm – 9:00pm, so there just may be some chatter, hopefully not too loud. #jazzvoyager#wannabewhereyouare

The Jazz Voyager

Just got off the plane in Beantown and this Jazz Voyager is going to Uber to the hotel, make my reservation for jazz tomorrow, then cruise around town and visit some old haunts and get some new ones before catching up with some friends and and have a good meal while hanging out in Roxbury for the night.

Sunday morning I will be heading off to the jazz brunch with Jeff Felder & Friends from 10:30 – 2:20pm at DCBK (Darryl’s Corner Bar & Kitchen) at 604 Columbus Ave, Boston, Massachusetts 02118. Its official name is Darryl’s Corner Bar & Kitchen and serves up old-fashioned Southern eats, live jazz and is opened Tuesday through Sunday. For reservations 617-536-1100.

With a full belly and head of music it’s back to the hotel to finish off this two-day get away with a well-deserved lounge and movie binge watching, good night sleep, morning checkout and heading to the airport for my next destination. #jazzvoyager#wannabewhereyouare
