Ever since he burst on the jazz scene in the latter part of the twentieth century, the Brooklyn-born, Harlem-based vocalist/guitarist/bandleader/composer Allan Harris has reigned supreme as the most accomplished and exceptional singer of his generation. The ample and aural evidence of Harris’ moving and magisterial artistry can be heard on his fourteen recordings as a leader; his far-flung and critically-acclaimed concerts around the world, from Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York, and Washington DC’s Kennedy Center, to the 2012 London Olympics, and a many prestigious bookings in Europe, The Middle East and Asia.

ELLIE MARTIN & EAT IT UP TRIO
Recognized in both the vocal jazz performance and scholarship worlds, Ellie Martin is a highly respected vocalist, composer, educator, and Jazz studies scholar. She is currently the vocal jazz instructor at the University of Toledo, as well as Toledo School for the Arts. She performs a wide variety of repertoire from Brazilian music, American Songbook, Bebop, as well as her original compositions. A fearless improviser, Ellie delivers songs with individuality, passion, and honesty. Career highlights include performing at the Pittsburgh Jazz Festival, the Sunset Jazz Festival, and the Michigan Jazz Festival. She was the featured vocalist with the National Arab Orchestra in San Antonio Texas, and performed alongside jazz luminaries Geri Allen, Terri Lynne Carrington, Esperanza Spalding, the New York Voices, Jon Hendricks, and Afro Blue.

ARMANDO VEGA & 313 ORCHESTRA
Sonero y Conguero Armando Vega grew up immersed in Latin music and culture in Detroit, Michigan. Beginning to sing Salsa at seventeen, he received early mentoring from Herman Olivera, famed Grammy nominated singer with Eddie Palmieri, The Spanish Harlem Orchestra, and many others. Years later Armando performed with Olivera before a crowd of 30,000 at the Cleveland Puerto Rican Festival. He has promoted his own CD touring Puerto Rico, opening for Latin greats El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico, and many other prominent PR artists. He has also performed with Elias Lopes, one of Puerto Rico’s most influential Latin Jazz trumpeters. He has toured and headlined with Tito Puente, Jr., and recorded his own CD produced by Latin jazz saxophonist Luis Disla. Armando has established an enthusiastic following in and beyond Detroit.

MARCUS ELLIOTT QUINTET

Marcus Elliot is a saxophonist, composer, improviser, and educator based in Detroit, Michigan. His list of achievements and credentials are substantial including:
-2020 Kresge Artist Fellow, awarded by Kresge Arts in Detroit
-Current director of the University of Michigan’s Creative Arts Orchestra
-A Fellow of the Geri Allen Gathering Orchestra
-Co-founder of the nonprofit Polyfold Musical Arts Collective
-Director of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra’s Civic Jazz Ensembles
Elliot is a disciple of the Detroit music scene. His mentors include Rodney Whitaker, Marcus Belgrave, Robert Hurst, Donald Walden, Bennie Maupin, Marion Hayden, and Karriem Riggins. After graduating with a bachelors degree in Jazz Studies from Michigan State University, Marcus began to curate weekly performances in Detroit, showcasing some of Detroit’s young jazz musicians. He held a weekly residency at Detroit’s premiere jazz club, Cliff Bell’s, for four years. Marcus self-released three albums with his ensemble, the Marcus Elliot Quartet and co-released an album with his duo project with Michael Malis, Balance.
