
SEAN JONES
Sean Jones, Visiting Artist-in-Residence, is a versatile trumpeter, bandleader, composer, educator, and activist from Warren, Ohio. He began his musical journey in church choir before switching from drums to trumpet at age 10. Jones gained prominence as the lead trumpeter for the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra under Wynton Marsalis from 2004 to 2010 and became a member of the SFJAZZ Collective in 2015.
He has released eight recordings with his group on Mack Avenue Records, with his latest being “Live from Jazz at the Bistro” in 2017. Throughout his career, Jones has collaborated with renowned jazz musicians such as Illinois Jacquet, Nancy Wilson, and Herbie Hancock. He has performed with major symphonies and contributed to various music festivals. As an educator, he serves as the president of the Jazz Education Network and holds a prestigious chair in Jazz Studies at The John Hopkins University’s Peabody Institute. He was previously chair of the Brass department at Berklee College of Music.

GRETA MATASSA SEXTET
Award-winning, Hall of Fame jazz vocalist Greta Matassa has a new group these days and is featured in many of the areas best jazz clubs and concert venues. The new group features all new material and arrangements with a contemporary jazz bent. Although the songs may be new, there are classics such as George Shearing, Bill Evans, Chick Corea and Dave Brubeck. As well as jazz interpretations of Stevie Wonder, Sting, Bonnie Raitt, Herbie Hancock, Pat Metheny and Brazilian composers as well. As always Greta’s concerts also feature tunes from her 11 recordings and many of the classic jazz standards as well.
She was inducted into the Seattle Jazz Hall of Fame in 2014. Her 40 year career has been a whirlwind of exciting opportunities and experiences. Over the last 20 years she has become established as one of the greatest jazz singers of her time. Working with top jazz musicians in Los Angeles, Chicago and New York. In 2016 She was featured with bassist John Clayton’s group in a centennial tribute to Ella Fitzgerald.
She has recorded 11 CD’s. Her latest release “Portrait” on Origin Records is receiving rave reviews. She has been teaching for the last 20 years has become one of the most unique and respected educators in the field.

ALICYN YAFFEE
New York City-based guitarist and vocalist, by way of Kelseyville, California, Alicyn brings a wide range and depth, earning her BM in Jazz Studies, with a Double Major of Guitar and Vocals at Cal State University in Sacramento an her Masters degree in Jazz performance under the instruction of Dave Stryker and Conrad Herwig.
Since the move to New York, she has toured the U.S. and Europe under her own name, as well as with Becca Stevens, Grammy-nominee JC Hopkins’ Biggish Band, award winning singer Allan Harris, and bassist Benny Rietveld (Santana ); released her first solo album, “Someone Else”, featuring Cindy Blackman Santana, Ronnie Foster, Jeff Cressman; and played numerous venues with her own groups and with a diverse range of jazz and rock artists, including guitarist Mark Whitfield, China Moses, Kat Rodriguez (Beyonce),Bria Skonberg, Benny Bennack III, Billy Porter, Shirazette Tinnin’s Sonic Wallpaper, Arcoiris Sandoval, Tiana Major9, Haitian singer Darlene Desca, Dawn Drake’s Zapote, and Indian progressive rock composer Anupam Shobhakar.

The Moonlight Trio is fronted by Austin legend Bob Schneider and includes prodigious talents Kevin Lovejoy on piano, Brannen Temple on drums and bass players like Sam Pankey and Chris Maresh.
