The Jazz Voyager
The Artists’ Quarter is the next stop for the Jazz Voyager but instead of flying he’s jumping into a rental to experience the open road of the Midwest from Kansas City to his destination is the Twin Cities at 408 St. Peter Street, Maplewood, Minnesota 55102.
Tucked in the basement level of a historic St. Paul building, the Artists’ Quarter has a subterranean, classic vibe evoking a bygone era. Owned by working jazz musicians, who designed a sound, look and feel for the optimal live experience. Bringing in national acts or rising stars from the local scene, the AQ takes its jazz seriously. They don’t have a kitchen but have partnered with several nearby restaurants to deliver your choice of cuisine. I’m looking to be surprised by who will be performing but for more info: 651-292-1359. #wannabewhereyouare

The Jazz Voyager
The Jazz Voyager is on his way to the Midwest to Kansas City, Missouri, specifically to 1809 Grand Blvd, 64108 where the Green Lady Lounge is situated. This iconic jazz club serves up live music every night amid a retro vibe, scarlet walls, a marble bar, never a cover charge, open seating and doesn’t close its doors until 3:00am. As the saying goes, you don’t have to go home but…
With three separate stages – the Main Floor, Orion Room and the Black Dolphin there’s plenty of music choices for everyone. I’ll be arriving on Friday and plan to catch the last set of the Tim Whitmer Quartet from 5:30 – 8:30pm, the Boogaloo7 at 9:00pm and for those nightowls a set with the Matt Villinger Organ Trio begins at 12:30am. I may stick around KC and head back on Saturday to listen to the Chris Hazelton Trio at 9:00pm in the Orion Room.
The menu has two basic plates: cheese, Canadian bacon and crackers, and hummus and crackers to take the hunger edge off. If you desire more dine before you arrive. No reservations required but if you desire any more information call 816-215-2954. #wannabewhereyouare
