CHARLES MCPHERSON QUINTET
For more than 60 years, saxophonist Charles McPherson has been one of the most expressive and highly regarded voices in jazz. His rich musical style, rooted in the blues and bebop, has influenced and inspired generations of musicians and listeners. Wynton Marsalis, a longtime admirer says: “Charles is the very definition of excellence in our music.
He is the definitive master on this instrument. He plays with exceptional harmonic accuracy and sophistication. He performs free-flowing, melodic and thematically developed solos with unbelievable fire and an unparalleled depth of soul.”

The Jazz Voyager
The Jazz Voyager is leaving the Midwest for Bull City in the Mid~Atlantic state of North Carolina. The city is Durham and the Bull Durham tobacco brand is synonymous to the city. However, not to be distracted, this voyager is going to the social hub for music in the heart of downtown, Missy Lane’s Assembly Room, for an evening of jazz.
Bassist Butler Knowles is leading the jazz jam sets into the night and I am always curious to discover what new and established talent will turn out to perform. This is always one of my favorite expeditions as I always catch a different groove in each city I visit.
The vibe is cocktail lounge with plush couches, candlelit tables, chandeliers and baby grands coupled with late night bites for fingering. The $20.00 reservation deposit is applied towards the minimum, with no refund for any unspent portion.
Missy Lane’s Assembly Room is located at 310 E. Main Street 27701 For more information contact the venue at https://www.missylanes.com.
