EUGENIE JONES

Singer/Songwriter Eugenie Jones is an exceptional vocalist and cleverly gifted lyricist who has released highly-praised, primarily original, soulful American Jazz vocal projects.  She has been nominated for a Grammy for Best Jazz Vocal Album  and internationally ranked #7 on Jazz Week’s Top 50 charts and #30 on Jazz Week’s 2022 Top 100 Albums. Jones is additionally an Earshot Jazz Vocalist of the Year award recipient and the first vocal recording artist to receive Earshot’s Recording of the Year Golden Ear award.
A warm, engaging entertainer, she’s described by critics as an artist who can make you feel jazz. She and her recordings have received favorable coverage in every major jazz publication, including DownBeat, JazzTimes, JazzIz, The Gazette/NY, and many others. Described as a “deft vocalist,” Jones has also proven to be a skillful songwriter, releasing 30 originals on her recordings.

EUGENIE JONES

Eugenie Jones is an American jazz vocalist, songwriter, and producer. She has collaborated with many jazz artists, including Reggie Workman, Bernard Purdie, Julian Priester, Bobby Sanabria, Lynn Seaton, Marquis Hill, Bill Anschell, and Lonnie Plaxico.

She received the Jazz Hero Award by the Jazz Journalist Association in 2023. Jones writes original straight-ahead, swing, and soul-infused jazz lyrics and melodies and is also known for divergently creative arrangements of Great American Songbook jazz standards.

Allan Harris: Captivating Jazz Vocalist and Guitarist

Aptly described by the Miami Herald as an artist blessed with “the warmth of Tony Bennett, the bite and rhythmic sense of Sinatra, and the sly elegance of Nat ‘King’ Cole,” Allan Harris is a Brooklyn-born, Harlem-based vocalist, guitarist, songwriter, and band leader. With an impressive discography boasting fourteen recordings as a leader, Harris has established himself as one of the jazz world’s most acclaimed vocalists, possessing a potent combination of dynamic vocal abilities, impeccable phrasing, and powerful emotional resonance.

Daily Dose Of Jazz…

Maria Viana was born on March 17, 1958, Lisbon, Portugal and was the daughter of famous actor and painter, José Viana; and Brazilian singer and actress Jujú Baptista. A meeting with jazz critic and missionary José Carlos Monteiro Costa introduced her Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughan and Anita O’Day. He also introduced her to the producers of Cascais Jazz Festival, Luis Villas-Boas and Duarte Mendonça who took an immediate interest in her, arranging for rehearsals and jam sessions.

It was not until 1983 that she vigorsly pursued her professional ambitions in Jazz, because previously she had been an actress and a famous popsinger. She became the host-singer at the jazz bar, Drogaria Ideal, where dozens of soloists, amateurs and professionals performed. Within months Maria’s career progressed and revealed unquestionable talent and abilities.

She would go on to do television, festivals, record, and work with Al Grey, Bernardo Sasseti, and David Gausden. She created the Maria Viana Quintet, and toured the country for the National Secretary of Culture. 1995 Produces / features in concert, Around the World, Around the Forties, for the celebration of fifty years since the Second World War ending; an initiative of C.M. de Cascais. Tours Portugal with her quintet, and tours with Bill Goodwin quintet.

Maria’s work is rewarded with a Declaration of Manifest Cultural Value, has guested on several recordings and concerts, and became the Artistic Director for Hotels with Jazz. She produced Jazz na Casa da Guia, and Blues for Cascais, benefiting an ecological organization in Cascais.

Through the years vocalist Maria Viana has been featured on over sixty national television shows and concerts and continues to perform and tour.

CYRILLE AIMÉE

Cyrille Aimée grew up in a multilingual household full of music where dancing was an everyday activity, soundtracked by the Afro-Caribbean sounds of her mother’s native Dominican Republic. The family home was in Samois-sur-Seine, the location of the Django Reinhardt Festival, and the teenage Cyrille would climb out of her bedroom window at night to mingle with the players, igniting a passion for jazz.

Moving to New York City, her talents quickly gained her a reputation among her peers as a matchless interpreter of song. She performed and recorded with Roy Hargrove and stole the show in front of the notoriously hard-to-please crowd at the Harlem Apollo. Steven Sondheim invited her to star in a tribute at New York’s City Centre, backed by Wynton Marsalis. Her 2019 album Move On featured versions of Sondheim’s songs which received praise from Sondheim himself, and her version of “Marry Me a Little“, was nominated for a 2019 Grammy Award.

At the height of her New York success, new horizons beckoned. Visiting New Orleans, she fell in love with the energy and diversity of the city and made it her home. Linking back to New York to connect up all the dots, she teamed up with producer/multi-instrumentalist Jake Sherman, and together they have created her latest album, A Fleur de Peau. to be released on a new label, the London-based imprint Whirlwind Recordings

Combining the depth and sophistication of jazz, the immediacy of pop, the irrepressible dance rhythms of the Caribbean, it’s more intimate and more accessible than anything Cyrille has done before.
