Three Wishes

Once Nica questioned Milt Sealey about three wishes he replied with:

1. 1. “I wish I could be immortal in jazz. You know, go down with a nice name.”

   2. “I’d wish that my family ~ my wife, my child, and myself ~ would live a happy and healthy life.”

   3. “I wish that people… that I live to see the day when people will accept one another more humanly. As people, you know? Period. Well, that’s it. You know?”

Three Wishes

In response to the question of three wishes by Baroness de Koenigswarter, Terry Gibbs told her the two he had:

1. 1. “I would like to have access to all the money I can have. I’d like to be a billionaire!”

   2. “I’d like to have my own club and play when I feel like playing.”

   3. “A million dollars. If I had all these I wouldn’t need to wish for anything for my wife and family, because they’d be covered and it would be Utopia.”

Three Wishes

When Ernie Wilkins was approached by Nica and asked what his three wishes would be, he told her:

1. 1. “The first would be the ideal jazz club where I could use all the jazz groups I like, and where we’d never go out of business.”

   2. “The second would be a recording company the same way, where I’d could use all the musicians I like, and which would never go out of business.”

   3. “A million dollars. If I had all these I wouldn’t need to wish for anything for my wife and family, because they’d be covered and it would be Utopia.”

Three Wishes

While hanging out with the Baroness, she asked Benny Carter what his three wishes would be if by some chance he was granted them. His reply is as follows:

1. 1. “Three million dollars, tax free.”

   2. “Two millions dollars, tax free.”

   3. “One million dollars, tax free.”

   “But seriously, call me at my hotel when I have had time to think about it, and I will give you the real ones.”

When the ladies got together for a bit of girl talk Pannonica put for the th question of three wishes to Pearl Bailey who responded to her inquiry with this answer:

1. 1. “I only need one. I wish that humans would learn to live together with love, and then they wouldn’t need the other two wishes.”
