Requisites

Kelly Great is an album recorded on August 12, 1959 by pianist Wynton Kelly, and released that same year on the Vee-Jay record label. The photograph was taken by Chuck Stewart. Sid McCoy produced the 35:24 long session and Cozy Noda was responsible for the digital remastering.

Kelly, Morgan and Shorter all contributed compositions for this for song session that included the following lineup of tunes – Wrinkles (Wynton Kelly), Mama G (Wayne Shorter), June Night (Abel Baer, Cliff Friend), What Know (Lee Morgan) and Sidney (Shorter).

With Kelly on piano leading the quintet he enlisted the talents of Lee Morgan on trumpet, Wayne Shorter on tenor saxophone, Paul Chambers on bass and Philly Joe Jones on the drums.

Bags & Flutes is a  album by jazz vibraphonist Milt Jackson featuring performances recorded in New York City and released on the Atlantic label. The producer for the dates, May 21, 1957 (tracks 1 & 7), June 10, 1957 (tracks 3, 4 & 6) and June 17, 1957 (tracks 2 & 5) was Nesuhi Ertegun. The cover photograph was taken by Elbert Budin and the cover design was by Marvin Israel.

>The presence of a songbird on the end of one of the flutes creates a light-hearted visual reference for the vibist and the flautists.

Requisites

March 18, 1955 saw Lionel Hampton in a Paris, France studio recording the album Crazy Rhythm for the EmArcy record label. The swing/bop/hard bop session produced four songs with a total elapse time of forty minutes and fifty-four seconds.

In 1961 trombonist Bennie Green along with Johnny Griffin on tenor saxophone, Junior Mance on piano, bassists Paul Chambers (tracks 2, 3, 6 & 7) and Larry Gales (tracks 1, 4 & 5) alternating duties and drummer Ben Riley went into the studio and recorded 39 minutes and 31 seconds of jazz on March 9th  and 22nd that would be released as Glidin’ Along on the Jazzland label.

The sessions were produced by Orrin Keepnews with Chambers in the mix on the 9th and Gales on 22nd. The quintet came out of the studio with seven songs composed by two members of the group, Green and Griffin

Requisites

First Time Out is the debut album by American composer, arranger and keyboardist Clare Fischer. It was recorded and released in 1962 by Pacific Jazz Records. The session was produced by Richard Bock, the cover was designed and photographed by Woody Woodward.

A recital by a piano trio, led by a man previously known for his arranging and composing, Fischer’s piano is not as interesting as an arranger’s piano is apt to be. It is much more accomplished than that. On this body of work the composer has complete command of the 88, making his playing equal if not surpassing his composing. The trio was comprised of pianist Clare Fischer, bassist Gary Peacock and drummer Gene Stone.

All compositions are by Clare Fischer except for three where noted.
