Requisites
The year was 1967 when a young lady from Philadelphia recorded the first of two sessions for the album Girl Talk. Her name was Shirley Scott. On January 12th & 13th the organist went into the studio and recorded nine tracks that were released on the Impulse! label.
The cover design was by Robert and Barbara Flynn with photography by Charles “Chuck” Stewart. The sessions were produced by Bob Thiele.

The Jazz Voyager
The Jazz Voyager is off to Beantown to the South End of town to sit-in on a set or two at The Beehive. Located in the Boston Center for the Arts complex, this popular Bohemian venue is the backdrop for an eclectic, funky yet elegant art space where one can enjoy world-class live music every day of the week, or so it is said.
Serving up a menu of Middle East, Eastern Europe and American cuisine food along with a full list of cocktails this jazz voyager is going to find out what all the hubbub is about.

Requisites
In 1975 bassist Larry Ridley went into the Generation Sound Studios and recorded the album Sum Of The Parts between June 9th – June 30th for the Strata-East record label. The little-known Art Krasinky photographed an design the cover for bassist Larry Ridley, with typography by Bexar. The sessions were produced by Elliot Meadow. Tony May was the engineer for the date and the remix.Liner notes were written and arrangements were done by Ridley.
This former sideman for such luminaries as Thelonious Monk, Lee Morgan and Duke Ellington balanced a jazz career with lifelong academic achievement. He gained a doctorate and served as chairman of the Jazz Panel of the National Endowment for the Arts and as Professor of Jazz Bass.
Venturing a little further into the realms of fusion and smooth jazz than most Strata-East titles, Ridley’s level of musicianship remains high throughout, thanks to a strong lineup.
