Steve Turre has consistently won both the Readers’ and Critics’ polls in JazzTimes, Downbeat, and Jazziz for Best Trombone and for Best Miscellaneous Instrumentalist (shells). In addition to performing as a member of the Saturday Night Live Band since 1984, Turre leads several different ensembles. Turre’s quartet and quintet provide a setting based in tradition and stretching the limits conceptually and stylistically. In the Summer of 2000, Telarc released In The Spur of the Moment. This recording features Steve with three different quartets, each with a different and distinct master pianist: Ray Charles, Chucho Valdes, and Stephen Scott.

Steve Turre continually evolves as a musician and arranger. He has a strong command of all musical genres and when it comes to his distinct brand of jazz, he always keeps one foot in the past and one in the future.

Legendary Jazz Musician, Multi -Instrumentalist, Composer, Radio Personality, Grammy Nominated Artist Joey DeFrancesco has recorded and/or toured with his own groups as well as numerous renowned artists that include Ray Charles, Van Morrison, Diana Krall, Nancy Wilson, George Benson, James Moody, John Scofield, Bobby Hutcherson, Jimmy Cobb, John McLaughlin, Larry Coryell, David Sanborn and many more. The four time Grammy® Award-nominee, with more than 30 recordings as a leader under his belt, has received countless Jazz Journalist Association awards and other accolades worldwide, including being inducted into the inaugural Hammond Organ Hall of Fame in 2014, the Philadelphia Music Walk of Fame in 2016 as well as topping the Critics Polls in DownBeat Magazine eleven times over the past fifteen years and the Readers Polls every year since 2005. DeFrancesco also hosts a weekly program on SiriusXM Radio’s Real Jazz channel titled “Organized.”

THE JOE LOCKE GROUP W/KENNY WASHINGTON

Vibraphonist Joe Locke and vocalist Kenny Washington bring their long-standing jazz credentials to bear on the music of some of our most well-loved pop, rock and soul artists in an evening of music that’s guaranteed to land in your head, heart, and below-the-waist.

Joe’s arrangements and his tightly-knit quartet provide the framework for Kenny to shine on some classic hits by Sam Cooke, Bill Withers, Steely Dan, India Arie, Billy Joel and Stevie Wonder, among many others. Considering the fact that Todd Barkan, Keystone Korner’s artistic director, was responsible for Joe and Kenny’s very first collaboration 15 years ago, this is going to feel like a homecoming. CHARLES WILSON QUINTET

Charles “Charlie” Wilson is a drummer, pianist and bass guitar player. He started playing music at the age of 5, where he began taking lessons taught by Orlando Cotto at Nathan Carter’s School of Music in Baltimore. He attended Archbishop Curley High School under a music scholarship where he won several awards such as the North Texas Jazz Festival Outstanding Soloist Award and the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award. As a teen working under the City’s Youth Works Program, he was assigned at Paul L. Dunbar High School’s Music Program where he worked under the leadership of one of the greatest educators and musicians of all times, Charles Funn.
